This campaign is the result of our own interests and challenges. As technology researchers, human-computer interaction with 3D interfaces on the web was one of our concerns. As passionate gamers, we imagined the possibility to have a personal garage and take advantage of the freedom that the internet gives to make it available to everybody. The biggest challenge that we put to ourselves was to bring the high-quality graphics used in console and computer games to the browser. We tried to make it as intuitive as possible, knowing that many were not accustomed to this type of interactions.

The Story

This campaign is the result of our own interests and challenges. As technology researchers, human-computer interaction with 3D interfaces on the web was one of our concerns. As passionate gamers, we imagined the possibility to have a personal garage and take advantage of the freedom that the internet gives to make it available to everybody. The biggest challenge that we put to ourselves was to bring the high-quality graphics used in console and computer games to the browser. We tried to make it as intuitive as possible, knowing that many were not accustomed to this type of interactions.

The Car Visualizer was created using the latest technologies available – Flash with Stage3D and WebGL – in order to reach all the users that are limited by some browser vendors. Web technologies are getting into a high level of development where we can create astonishing products like never before, bringing new possibilities to advertising. One of our goals was to make our project run smooth on old laptop computers and some tablets using Android and Chrome Beta (the WebGL version in mobile devices).

The Technology

The Results

We consider it a successful project because of all the great feedback received from the community. Even if there were other 3D car presentations made until this moment, this has the best-performing and most realistic graphical results. The combination of environment, sound and user experience make it a winning project. An important thing to learn from this is that even if you work in a small team, this shouldn't discourage anyone, because good results can be achieved if you put determination and passion into it.
