The Story

Memorable tennis matches touch fans like great works of art. As the ATP World Tour sponsor, Corona Extra wanted to pay homage to tennis by revealing a never-before-seen perspective on the sport. We immortalized three of the best ATP matches ever played by developing a 360o multi-perspective online platform to allow anyone to see and interact with the match from any point of view.

First of all, we had to develop a piece of software able to extract the thousands of tennis ball trajectories. This condensed each match into a 3D mesh visualization, modeled with Cinema 4D. We used HTML5 to convert browsers into audio-visual platforms, while WebGl and real-time 3D rendering made it possible to visualize the matches from any perspective.

The Technology

The Results

The result is a 360º multi-perspective online platform that makes it possible to interact with the sport in a whole new way. Users can track each set, game or point, see where the ball lands, choose the color of the trajectory for each player or decide the speed of the mesh’s rotation. It’s a project that’s not only a useful interactive tool for fans, players and trainers, but a real tribute to tennis itself.
