The Story

Fluíögger realized that a growing number of users were entering their commerce website looking for inspiration. But the site provided little of this and Fluíögger were discontinuing their print magazine in order to move budget and focus from print to digital. The task was to create a magazine-like experience in digital form, providing inspiration while linking closely to the online shop. The site is designed with tablets in mind, but created to perform cross-platform.

Mainly, the idea was to apply a magazine-like feel to the tablet experience. HTML5 is the obvious choice: the challenge was to push it to a degree where it provided a unique experience, while still performing quickly and smoothly. Also, we wanted to add elements that worked particularly well using touch; this resulted in a main navigation that relied heavily on swipes and a module that allowed users to actually paint using their fingers.

The Technology

The Results

Since Flügger's print solution no longer worked, we created a real digital alternative. The project is a success for three main reasons. It provides much-sought-after inspiration for users who missed this in the traditional commerce experience. It challenges the use of technology in the tablet space. It effectively leaves the client with a platform to build on. The main lesson is that inspiration, branding and commerce needn't be separate entities, but can co-exist in a future-proof, digital context.
