We were asked to make the Dutch National Lottery New Year's Eve draw even more exciting. Our solution: create an app that makes the thrilling experience of winning tangible for everyone.
To create an engaging experience we pushed technological boundaries by combining the topnotch Unity3D engine with Vuforia® SDK tracking software and Facebook & Twitter APIs. This resulted in an interactive 3D Augmented Reality App for Android and iOS that allowed users to bring the lottery ticket to life and design their dream New Years Eve. Sharing an image of the dream on Facebook or Twitter gave them a chance to actually win it!
The campaign was kick-started by inviting regular Dutch National Lottery players to download the app, via an email sent with their digital lottery ticket (which they could print out themselves). The app soon spread virally. The results within two weeks: 53,000 app downloads, leading to 100,000+ experiences, 90,000 shared images of dreams on Facebook & Twitter and lots of PR, including a review on a Dutch primetime television show.
