With more than 10 million monthly active users, Jobtome is an international job classified site operating in 34 countries. The Jobtome team noticed two common user trends emerging across regions. Jobs seekers were switching more and more between desktop and mobile, especially during commuting hours. At the same time, email job alerts were losing traction among users as click-through rates were constantly declining.

While Jobtome didn’t want to develop a dedicated app, they did want to provide a better offer to their mobile users. By collaborating with Google, they designed a mobile development strategy around improving user experience.
After A/B testing in multiple countries, Jobtome used Progressive Web Apps functionality to launch push notifications. By borrowing this key feature from the world of native apps, they could offer their customers a more efficient communication channel directly from the mobile site.
“The name itself, Job-to-me, means that our platform users must get offers related to exactly the jobs they’re looking for”, observes Gabriele Borga, the company’s CEO and Founder. “The new Progressive Web Apps features help us to accomplish our mission.” Now when a new position becomes available on the site, a push notification lets interested users know about it. This simple measure has already increased return traffic by 30% on average.
"Google’s support has really changed the way we look at our business and has been fundamental to drive our efforts in improving our user experience."
– Gabriele Borga, CEO & Founder, Jobtome
Jobtome also focused on mobile site performance by collaborating with Google’s mWeb Innovation Program team. A tailored analysis produced a host of guidelines and recommendations. After implementing all of these, the Jobtome mobile site load time dropped by 40%. To offer a better local experience across all countries, Jobtome also adopted Google Cloud as their global hosting platform.
“Google’s support has really changed the way we look at our business and has been fundamental to drive our efforts in improving our user experience”, Gabriele says. Together, all of these improvements – which required just 10 working days for setup – have produced a twofold uplift in mobile monetisation year over year for the company.
