YouTube UK Re:View – Glory, Glory Man United

Here’s what the UK’s loving on YouTube this week.


#1 Rejoice footy fans! Especially if you’re a Man Utd fan. With a global fan following of 659M searching for MUFC content on YouTube (this season alone saw 'unofficial' MUFC content generate 843M views) the football club launched their own official channel. With over 100 videos, 13M views and over 500k subscribers in 7 days – there’s never been a better way to keep tabs on the Red Devils. Expect behind-the-scenes access to Old Trafford, exclusive player features, all the latest goals and match action. #MUFCYouTube, back of the net.

#2 In other news, Stephen Fry, in his wonderfully gracious and witty style, took to YouTube to share a special and difficult announcement – overcoming cancer. A brave move to help raise awareness for prostate cancer and create a movement for men to get tested. One viewer commented: ‘For at least 13 minutes you were the most important person for almost 1.5M people watching this video, you deserve all of this love and affection’. Huge respect, Mr Fry.

#3 Doing more good for the world, we look to Drake. His latest music video ‘God’s Plan’ has got us talking. With the opening frame: ‘The budget for this video was $996,631.90, we gave it all away’ – what’s he got up his sleeve? In a short film, directed by Karena Evans, the star travelled around Miami giving his label’s budget away to those in need. Beautifully shot scenes, accompanied with Drake’s talent and brilliant beats – this video will make you feel warm inside.

#4 Mel B is a gift that keeps on giving. On US show, ‘The Real Daytime’ the hosts asked her if she knew anyone who was going to Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s Wedding – her face said it all. Not only will she be attending, she’ll be attending along with four of her friends… have you guessed it yet? The Spice Girls are performing at the Royal Wedding! We can only imagine the shapes on the dancefloor. Zigazig ah.

#5 We left our hearts in Havana with her and now Camila Cabello is taking us on another special trip. Produced exclusively for YouTube, ‘Made in Miami’ celebrates Camila's journey from arriving in Miami from Cuba as a child, finding her voice and becoming the artist she is today. She dedicates her success to the ‘generations of strong women who inspired her’. It’s official, she’s got our hearts all over again.

YouTube Ads Leaderboard: Oscars Edition

Ahead of the awards on Sunday, this special Oscars Ads Leaderboard ranks the Best Picture trailers by popularity. According to an Ipsos study*, 78% of YouTube users agreed that watching trailers and clips on YouTube helps them decide whether to go to the movies. So, it’s no surprise that the Ads Leaderboard’s top two trailers also happen to be the highest-earning among the nominees.
