Here’s what the UK’s loving on YouTube this week.
#1 Say hello to Falcon Heavy, the world’s most powerful operational rocket. Designed to carry humans into space and the possibility of flying missions to the Moon or Mars (we might be considering a new type of vacay soon). Over 14M tuned in to watch Space X’s YouTube Live Stream of the launch, and one viewer commented: “Watching this live was one of the most fascinating and exciting things ever. It was great, history was made.” Hear, hear.
#2 Over at YouTube, we’ve been getting all excited about the Super Bowl ads. Which one was your favourite? This week’s top trender goes to Tide. Yes, it’s a #TideAd. We’re now looking at laundry (and David Harbour) in a whole new light.
#3 Staying on the Super Bowl theme Justin Timberlake makes his comeback even more epic, with his half-time medley of hits. Expect his latest songs, mixed with old classics (‘SexyBack’ anyone?) with brilliant dance moves to match. He’s still got it.
#4 Pass the mic to Helen Mirren. She takes on James Corden on US Show: ‘Drop the Mic’. Packed with cheeky wit, unbelievable beats and ‘she didn’t just say that?’ moments – in our opinion, she ‘crushed it’. Who won? You’ll have to watch it to find out.
#5 Kylie Jenner welcomes ‘Stormi Webster’ into the world. She made a short film called, ‘To Our Daughter’ capturing a little glimpse into her pregnancy and special mum-to-be moments. It attracted 42M views in its first 24hrs, we think that’s pretty special too.
One to watch: Will Darbyshire
If you love a short film, make sure you check out Will Darbyshire. His videos have a vintage feel – effortlessly simple, beautifully created and often accompanied with music by ‘Flatsound’ (which in itself is worth a listen). All numbered to keep viewers on track (hence, the number 83), he covers everything from travel, life and self-care. Watch his latest video, where he heads to Brussels and journals the whole thing through video. Super sweet, scenic and stunning.
