The Story

Developed by Dontnod and published by Capcom, Remember Me is a game with an Inception-meets-cyberpunk storyline set in Neo-Paris 2084. Our goals were to reach outside of the core gamer audience and engage new fans by leveraging the concepts, philosophies, and social commentary that the game raises, while planting key characters in the real world.

Beyond traditional social media platforms, we used Tumblr to tell the real-time story of the founder of a fictional company called Memorize. We collaborated with Devin Super Tramp on YouTube to create a company 'mood film' that expanded the story and drove users to our interactive mixed media journal. We used HTML5 to ensure that the experience was equally engaging across mobile, tablet and desktop. The journal tells the story from present day to the game's imagined future and attempts to bridge the two realities.

The Results

In under a week, we had more than 500,000 views of our 'Mood Film' which drove 250,000+ hits to our interactive journal. Although the experience is an hour long, we have seen a bounce rate of only nine percent. By reaching a young, connected audience that follows DST, we managed to engage fans beyond the gaming world and plant questions and ideas in their minds that link directly back to the game. These questions not only provoke probing discussions, but also drive conversations about the game itself.
