The Story

Far Cry 3 is a videogame set on an island of insanity. So to promote the game, we gave people a glimpse of their own inner madness. The Far Cry 3 Insanity Mirror is a free mobile app that lets you meet and have conversations with your insane alter-ego.

To create the illusion of insanity, we wanted to recut video of the user talking to make them appear to say crazy dialogue. To do this, we prompt users to say a sentence into their phone‚s camera. The app analyzes their voice and chops together a video of them talking into phonemes. It then rearranges the clips of their mouth movements to sync them to psychotic dialogue. The result is their own crazy avatar which, using voice recognition, they can have conversations with. The avatar reacts when you ignore it and also when return to it. You can even let it loose on Facebook.
