An approach that anticipates and caters to users’ reliance on multiple devices has been key to Betfair achieving £1.2 in bets annually and handling 8,000 bets per second – more than the volume traded on all the European stock exchanges combined.


Customers move between devices before and during a sporting event, even switching from desktop to mobile app to smartphone within the course of a match or race. Nowhere was this more clearly demonstrated than in the 2014 Champions League Final football match.
