What trends will determine consumer spending and behavior during the 2013 holiday season? It's a question on every marketer's mind. To find out, we commissioned Ipsos MediaCT to survey thousands of shoppers, asking them what gifts they intended to buy and how. Comparing this to previous years' data, we were able to see how consumer habits have changed. A few of our top findings: Consumers are starting their holiday shopping earlier and relying on smartphones more than ever. The web is their most useful resource, and they're using it to find new gift ideas, retailers and, of course, great deals.
